Picada: The Spanish false friend, the word picada from the verb Picar, denotes minced, however, Picada in Catalonia is a pounded mixture of minced garlic, fried bread ( picatostes ), hazelnuts and olive oil. This concoction is used to thicken sauces and flavor dishes along the Costa Brava and in the interior of Catalonia.
