Favorite Fast Food Joint

What's your favorite fast food joint? Or, to put it another way, what fast food restaurant can you most tolerate?
Mine is Arbys. I like their roast beef sandwiches (with horseradish sauce), and their Jamoaca milkshakes are very good.

I am ashamed to admit it, especially on THIS forum, but I vote for Jack in the Box. Once every couple of months or so I stop in.

Roy Rogers is by far the best, but they are rare since McDonald's bought them. There are only a few privately owned ones left, but I hear they are making a (small) comeback. The Gold Rush Chicken Sandwich is the BEST and the fixings bar is great for the burgers.
I have never eaten In-N-Out, but people tell me there is a place here called Five Guys Burgers that is exactly the same as In-N-Out.

I only eat fast food when I'm taking road trips with the wife, but my favorite is Chick-fil-a. They are amazing, from the quality of the food to the cleanness of the restaurants, to the friendliness of the staff.

Well just for the record we do our best to avoid fast food in every shape or form but then again we are human and still get the "craving" for some of it from time to time, but mostly we embibe whilst traveling. So since we're talking "Favorite Fast Food" joints....

I still like a couple good old fashioned "Sliders" whenever I get back to Chicago in addition to hitting a Portillo's. In New Mexico there's a place called Blakes Lotta Burger which is very good. Every blue moon or so I still pollute my system with the wings and a couple frosties from Hooters, Tom Wahls in Avon, NY has some great hots (hot dogs), Anchor Bar in Buffalo also has about the best wings anywhere, Lou Malnati's and Gino's East in Chicago for a "Pie" and can't forget The Varsity in Atlanta for a Dog and some "Rings".:bounce:

Roy Rogers Huh? Haven't heard that place mentioned in a very long time. I've seen "Five Guys Burgers" a couple different times here but we haven't tried them yet.

****.

I just realized that I really am a food snob. I don't eat at any of them, and don't have any desire, secret or otherwise, to do so.

I'm still a nice person, though.

I can't eat it anymore because of gluten intolerance, but my fast food craving would be Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Not too long ago on a gluten free message board we had a discussion on what you would eat first if there was a cure for celiac disease.

Apparently, there's going to be a rush on KFC's all over the country when the magic pill is discovered. LOL!

Fast food- I must agree with others in that I don't particularly care for it and try to avoid it (castiron, we'll still speak to you...lol)
but, I would have to agree with In and Out Burger (they have awsome fries too) but I will confess that I do eat Wendy's when my husband wants fast food, but I try to stick with the salads.
Alynch- we just had a Chik-a-fila (spelling?) just recently opened up near by- they were giving away free sandwiches in the parking lot of the mall nearby- not too bad.
Nantzie- Don't feel bad at all, after speaking with a couple of people who used to work at a KFC, I will never purchase it for my kids again. I heard stories of nearly spoiled chicken being washed with antibacterial soap or bleach and cooked anyhow (trying to avoid Salmonella??) Gross!

Bon Vive' !

I eat fast food often and I hate it! The food is nasty, the atmosphere is very dirty, they're is tons of artificial colors and preservatives in everything! Soap in the KFC chicken? No wonder my mom always gets sick when she eats KFC! The thing is that the owners of the restaurants do it with no love of food but for the love of money. I do really like quizno's though. I always order their smoked turkey sandwich, will all the fixin's and a roasted red pepper spread, stuffed in a toasted parmesan garlic herb roll. Yum! Their salads are also spectacular too. The staff members are also very friendly and it's pretty healthy compared to the stuff served at McDonalds, Wendy's etc.

Global or local?

Global. Subway. Gets my daughter to eat veggies. Great breakfast sands. <at least in Australia>.

In 'Oz' nothing beats a burger with 'the lot'; lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, fried egg, beets, cheese, bacon, sauces.

Local in the US. Johnnies Pastrami in Culver City. Titos Tacos. Campos Burritos (all in West LA.)

The older I get the less I feel like eating fast food but I will still eat it on the odd occasion.

In Australia we don't have that many fastfood chains. The big ones are KFC, McDonalds, Hungry Jacks and Subway. Can't think of any others. Most of the ones mentioned in the above posts I have never heard of and probably just as well - the less fastfood joints we have in this country the better.

I don't eat fast foods from any of the imported chains like KFC or McDs. Why would I? We have wonderful individual coffee shops and the very best deli in the country, Valvona and Crolla (unable to put the url here cos I've not made 15 posts yet..Grrrrr).

The only thing I eat as 'fast food' is four or five times a year, I buy a fish supper or a white pudding supper from one of our favourite fish n chip shops! :D

I remember not having a choice and having to order something from Taco Bueno, and YUK YUK YUK. The time before that, I had to order something from a Burger King, once again, not having a choice, and got food poisoning. It was the veggie burger. I remember feeling drunk that night, vomiting promiscuously, and all of the gastrointernal delights that go along with it (someone said my face was green- I was doing snowcarving in Breckenridge, CO and shared a 2-bedroom condo with 6 people jesus was that awful).

TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, we ordered several sandwiches from a local supermarket the next day, after I began to feel better. Guess what happened- got deliriously sick again.

I have VOWED to never touch that crap again. But if I had a gun to my head, I would go to Chipotle because apparently they use additive-colored-preservative free ingredients.

Any place with sandwiches is generally a place I like. Local delis, quiznos, subway sometimes, panera. I'm not much of a burger guy but definitely In'n'Out and Farmer Boys (I think farmers is only a southern california thing).

For mexican other than locals...miguels jr.

Arby is good for the beef and cheddars and corned beef.

I don't care what anyone says. My diet outside of home as a teengager consisted of fast food and when I'm hungry...I don't want to take the time to make something...I want to eat.

Does subway count as fast food? I'd take that over anything. I usually get the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki or a Turkey on wheat with lettuce and cheese and then I pour Italian dressing on it. mmmm.

Our number one choice for real fast food is usually Mcdonald's because of the kids. We don't really eat fast food all that often though.

I vow never to take my kids to McDonald's. It would be healthier for me to shove a stick of butter in their mouths.

It makes me sad seeing 3 year olds with a 700 calorie nutrient-deficient breakfast meal.

I don't hit the fast food joints often as I live in an area of great food that's availble fast (Berkeley's "Gourmet Ghetto"). However, there's a Popeye's near me that puts out a nice, spicy chicken breast, and not to far afield there's an In 'n' Out Burger. Oh, there's a Subway that I've visited a few times - I enjoy their veggie sandwhich - kinda healthy and I love the crispness and the crunch from the veggies.

However, for about the same money as a meal at these places I can hit any one of some local deli's, a few pizza places that make exceptional NY or Chicago-style pizza, and any one of a number of Chinese, Indian, Ethiopian, Cambodian, Thai, etc. places if I want to grab a quick, good quality, and inexpensive lunch.

In-n-out is definitely the best fast food in my mind. May not be fair because I think they stand a cut above the stereotypical "fast food" establishment.

There are only two fast foods place that I eat at. On occasions I get a hamburger from Whataburger with just mayo and lettuce and a chocolate shake. I make it to Subway once a week for either a salad or daily sandwich special. Not that I'm a health nut, but you couldn't pay me to eat at McDonald's.

The Varsity in downtown Atlanta. Chili dogs, the greasiest onion
rings in the world, Large PC on ice(thats chocolate milk, pure chocolate),
or a frosted orange. Attendents come out to your car and no matter
how many times you order the same meal you get charged something
different. My mom used to feed us there once a week just to keep us
regular!

another vote for Chick-fil-a. They don't have any in Michigan so our second vote is for Culver's. Both are cooked to order and high quality for fast food.

Culver's is the only fast food burger I'll eat, at least where I live. They don't freeze the beef and it gets caramelized and crusty (in a good way :smiles: ) on the grill. You can also get fresh mashed potatoes if you don't want fries.

My birthday each year for the last 15 years has included either a Culver's double cheeseburger, fries and a small hot fudge sundae or a deep-fried pork tenderloin sandwich from Culver's with the trimmings. :lips:
