Hey all, I'm glad that I've finally found a good cooking forum.

For starters.. I'm just going into grade 12 this year and I have a passion for food. I was the Food Network (foodtv.com) for a couple hours each day and I recently found a job with a local restaurant. Right now I don't cook there, but I prep things etc.

I want to get into the path of.. well this may sound stupid-ish.. but I want to follow in Bobby Flay's footsteps.

To sum up one Huge question, do you think that someone like me would be able to do that? As in become an executive chef, own high class restaurants..

Sorry for coming across sounding all hyped up, but it would be a dream.


Edit: If anyone could give me usernames of any of the... higher reputation chefs, or people who have done what I want to do, fire away please.

Hello Zach and welcome to Chef Talk. You'll find many members here in your shoes: set on a culinary career with a goal and passion to back it up. Be sure to visit the Culinary Students/Culinary Schools forum and also use the search tool to find earlier threads on topics you're seeking.

We have many, as you said, "higher reputation chefs, or people who have done what I want to do" although they may not have made it onto television programs, so they'd be unknown to you. However, the number of accomplished food professionals here is stunning. You won't always be aware of a person's reputation by reading their posts here or looking at their screen name and profile. But they're here, I assure you. With that in mind, ask your questions and become engaged in the community, and you'll quickly learn what I mean. :)

Those of us who are home cooks also find a warm welcome here, no matter our levels of experience. Congratulations on finding a life-goal at a young age! We're here to help you explore it and encourage you. We hope you visit often to learn and to share.
