I hope this is the right place to start - I had some trouble finding where and how to post.

I'm a retired guy who is fast learning to appreciate all the work my wife did through the years putting delicious food on our plates. There's more to this here cookin' than opening cans.

I hope this forum can give me a jump start on a lot of basics as well as the finer points. Maybe I can contribute something, too, some day.

Welcome to Chef Talk, Boiltoast. (Intersting name!). I'm a home cook who has learned so much from being part of this community. I've gained courage to try making things I'd never have tried before, and to get help to figure out why my failures failed.

I love the username Boiltoast. When I saw it my mind immediately started pondering the concept of actually boiling toast. Hah. Anyways, welcome to the forums.
