Online Cooking shows

I'm not trying to advertise and sites or anything, but I would like to encourage people to think about doing web based cooking shows. A friend of mine who just got out of film school got me in front of the camera, "Better Beer Food" I guess you can just google it, I still haven't posted enough. betterbeerfood dot com...there does that work?

What we were trying to accomplish was sort of a rock video meets cooking, so there is no voice overs or dialog. The episodes are only about 2.5 to 3 minutes long.

With saying that, seems like a lot of cooking video/social networking sites are popping up. ifoodtv, tastyfoodtv, and you start seeing a lot of them on places like Revver, MetaCafe, Youtube, etc...

It's a great way to show people what you can do, but most of all, I think its a lot of fun.

Note to admin: ever think of doing a video gallery? Could just allow people to put in embeds from other sites like youtube or metacafe so that way it wouldn't effect your bandwidth. Just a thought.

I'm going to open (another) can of worms here.

So why do I want to take the time and bandwidth to download a total stranger's webisode? Shouldn't you try to establish credibility on the site for knowledge, skill and quality before trying to convince me to take my time for your product and or site?

Low post count shilling doesn't count, I need convincing.

This is not to attack any of you, but to express the hurdle you must realistically overcome to get click throughs.

Working off of a social video network is a great way to meet other like minded people. It also gets you exposure and helps build credibility. Excuse the Kirkegaardian quote here, but sometimes you need to take a leap of faith.

The big reason why I host my videos on another site is so I spare my server . I also get the added advantage of being able to use another site's network, this does actually help out in the long run as it brings in more viewers. If the quality of the video stinks, then people don't watch it, but if you have something of decent or high quality, the video does well. Most of my videos are actually posted on several video share and social networking sites for added exposure. This is related to viral marketing.

It is a little scary getting in front of the camera and I think that's where a lot of people end up shying away.

You tube for cooks

I found youcook.tk aka youcookforus.com which can help people starting out that don;t want to use there own bandwidth for videos all uploaded videos can be embedded like you tube and the community is purlly cooking related which is cool also they do a sister site thing with watchacook.com once someones video starts getting popular they get features on watchacook for the cook of the day section

I think cooking shows on the net would really be cool. Technology and the people's way of life is really evolving, isn't it? You can now find anything and everything on the web. I'll be watching out for more developments. :D

Very cool

yeah I gotta say the thought of a place just for cooks to help cooks out sounded good to me so this youcook.tk thing really started to stand out in my mind as a good idea

We're all busy. All the time.

Honestly, I'd rather have the participation rather than links and urls or internet cooking videos. But once you've shown your skills in forum, I might follow a link at that time.

The hurdle I mentioned 10 months ago is still there waiting to be crossed. Actions do speak louder than words even here in a word forum. The actions so far amount to spam. Give us some good words AND action here so we believe in you.

some honest feedback from someone who enjoys step by step and photography/video.....

(which if you read the site, instead of just spamming, you'd probably already know that!)

...the videos go to fast.....before I read the caption, or look at what you're doing, you're already doing something else and the scene has changed. very hard to follow (at least the curry video I watched)

as well, you have to add some instruction, that's the benefit of video over pictures....you can talk about what you are doing while you are doing it and what I like about TV is when a chef tells you what NOT to do....i.e. don't put the heat on too high, don't cook the onions too much, etc..
