You classically trained and worked as a cook. How did you cross over into writing? Was it a career goal or a happenstance turn of events?

Pretty much a happenstance turn of events. They hired me to do the curriculum at the French Culinary Institute and I also got a job translating some pastry books into English. The publisher of the books eventually invited me to do my own book and I did Sauces.
