My mom called around 5:45am this morning to say she is coming up August 30. I love my mum to death and don't you ever doubt that. But here is the thing, she is coming for one month - well, usually after two weeks, we end up quarelling. This morning I prayed and asked God, let there be no argument between me and her. I will try my best to be humble. . . very humble:D:D **cross my heart and hope to die**

Famiy visiting =4 days if you like them... Just over a week if you really love them. Then, unless you live in a mansion or can get away from them sometimes. It's time to LEAVE.
I would never impose myself on my boys for more than a few days. And even then I'd be doing my own thing a lot of the time.
4 weeks n we'd be scrapping

I love the uninvited, even if they're family. ;)
A month?
I'd have something planned for weeks 3 and 4, something I couldn't get out of.
A (supposed) long planned trip to visit friends, camping trip, etc.
My mom would be welcome to stay the duration in my absence of course, but I would remove myself before fireworks started.

There is a reason why biologically we grow up and our sole purpose is to leave home and break away from the parental oversight (waterboarding, unfair practices, snarly temperments, etc.)

doc (somewhat gratified to see that I'm not the only one who used to dread the "weekend visit" once a year at my house, and the "perfunctory" return weekend visit to her house in a land far away (but not far enough).

You are brave. Me + my Mum = 2 days max. Have a good time!! I have the ideal distance between me and her. One hour's drive! Too long to pop by, but short enough to come for the day AND GO HOME afterwards! Sorry Mum, I love your really.
Pfffff:lol:

re my mum's visit, so far so good. Nothing beats a prayer:D:D or maybe because I am keeping her busy with her friends.
Wow!, this time around she only gave me one warning - "Do not pick up the American ways" and I'm like "of course not. You see, even though my mum is living in the Caribbean she still thinks her European way is the best.

Aww, I love her so much *muah*
