What do you think?

So.. our AKM got fired last week because he failed to show up for work. (I posted about it last week) Anyway...the position is open and it's either me or another guy who is going to get it. Alot of people think it is going to be me but I'm not so sure. I have supervisory experience but not alot of experience at our chain and the other guy has experience at our chain but picks and chooses what he does. When he opens and I start at 8am there is still a long prep list when I get there... when I open as soon as I get the kitchen ready to go I start to kill the prep list and by 8am most jobs on that list are done. I hate being caught with my pants down so I get everything done as early as I can. He does not do well under pressure... he tends to freak out and make a big show of what he is doing.. I get very quiet and focus on what I am doing to get the job done. I called board Tues and Wed when the KM was off and Tues was a little shaky... it was the first time everything was on me so I had to take a bit of time to be aware of the entire line. I also had couple of weak people on so I had to more than once help them out to get the orders out in time. Wed I had a stronger staff in and I felt better about how things went. The other guy who wants the position was in on Wed and he reluctantly gave up the board to me but I planned to call at least the egg board as I was training someone and I didn't want to overwhelm him.
So.. the other guy worked at another location of our chain... I was the kitchen at my last place.. so he has more chain experience than me. On Tues and Wed the owner had me do the produce order and on Wed he came to me for advice on the milk order and not the other guy even though he was working too. That makes me think they're going to offer me the position and not him. If it was him I'd think the owner would be asking him to do the produce as well as the milk orders.
So what do you guys think?

Hard to ever predict what management will do.
Based on what you say, you seem to be the obvious choice.
But I can just as easily see them thinking that if they promote you and someone fills your role production will go down.
If they promote the other person and leave you where you're at production remains at the current level.

It looks like they're leaning towards you, but only you have a true feel for the situation.
Do you want the position?
Or are you just hoping to be asked?

If they promote me I would still be doing my station so that part of the job wouldn't change. I would have extra responsibilites and I'd be in charge when the KM has days off. It's something I think I could do and do well if they were to offer it to me.

I think it definitely does with our owner, for sure. The person he appointed to be KM when they let the old one go is a really hard worker as well and in all honesty I was surprised she wasn't appointed AKM as she has more experience in the industry than any of us.
