Bran, bran everywhere... I sneak bran into my breads and baked goods.
Add bran to:
Whole wheat bread
Oatmeal Cookies (or any highly textured cooky)
Carrot Cake
Add to your cereal
Add to yogurt with craisins or chopped walnuts
I make these up once a week, use one every day and have for years. They are great for work: Oatmeal Bags
1/2 cup Minute Oats (not instant)
2 Tbsp. Bran
pinch salt
1 tsp. Splenda or Brown sugar
1 Tbsp. dried fruit such as Craisins, Raisins or chopped apricots
1 Tbsp. flax seed
dash Cinnamon
(1 diced small apple)
Place all ingredients in sandwich sized ziplock bags.
To prepare:
Empty bag in heat proof cup or bowl large enough to hold all ingredients plus appropriate amount of water. I use the water from the hot spigot at the coffee machine. Some offices have hot water spigots at the sink.
The amount of water you add...that's up to you. I eat my oatmeal like joint compound and my daughter eats hers like soup. Add as much water as you like, keeping in mind you can add but you can't take it out.
