under, "boy this is a small, small world" catagory I met the flower people at Carrboro Farmer's Market who know a flower farmer that sold at my market several years ago then disappearred.....only last week did I discover she went back to grad school in NC (not chapel hill)......
As I'm quickly making the rounds, we needed to leave within an hour.....much too short a time to socialize and talk to the 70+ farmers. The Pie man from Breux Bridge, La. and I start talking......boudin comes up naturally and various other things...he needs a pen and asks Liza the pork farmer next to him for one. WELL, after talking to Bill Smyth (Crooks Corner) on Sunday about various varieities of piggies and what we're doing with the weird cuts (still talking up leaf lard...

He mentioned Eliza had ossabow pigs, um I just finished reading, "Pig Perfect" this past summer and remembered the story about this single mom who is raising these crazy great fatty critters with wonderful flavor. OK.....I've only got a first name and no computer available....so I call the cooking school, call the market manager, show up at Carrboro City Hall.....gotta leave town at 3pm for the airport......figured out one of the local using chefs would have her contact info, went to Panzenella...Yep!!! score. Several of us in STL want to do a pork tasting with Berkshires, a couple of mixed pigs, Ossabow, possibly Berkshire raised on jersey whey.......just out of curiosity do a side by side. Liza was having a preverbial chasing pigs for slaughter afternoon....did not have any ossabow left but was butchering some and would I call later in the week to arrange shipping.
The world gets really small when you start connecting the dots.
