As far as I know,
Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper is still going strong. In fact, I believe the Diet version outsells the normal Cherry Vanilla version by quite a bit (paralleling the sales of Diet Dr Pepper vs. regular Dr Pepper).
However, in Canada, I believe PepsiCo controls all the distribution, which is different than how it is handled here in the States. I had read that it had disappeared for a short time in the Great White North, but is reappearing in various markets. Why? I don't know. If Coke was controlling the distribution, I would say the reason for the disappearance would have to do with them favoring their in-house knock-off, Mr. Pibb. However, Pepsi doesn't have an equivalent, so why it's not seen, I'm not sure.
The U.S. version
recently went through a repackaging to showcase the new label design. Perhaps that indicates a renewed interest in the drink. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.
