well yeah.....and I can remember penny candy too, dime cokes, nickle candy bars......gum cost a penny. My parents gave me their spending ledger for the year I was born....and that was even more eye opening......
I remember umpteen years ago being in NYC must have been close to 20ish years and a movie was $8 or was it $10....anyway, my jaw dropped, sticker shock set in and thus we didn't see a movie.

So, there are bargain second run houses that cost 3/6 dollars
First Run house matinees cost $6-6.75 and at one theatre early bird $4 prior to noon
reg. cost movies are right at $8.

I don't buy from concessions, but have a value card that adds up sales points and occasionally gifts me with a "medium popcorn or $4 off a combo"
