I just wonder if this "retro" "raw" stuff isn't happening because of the corn (corn syrup) being used to make so much ethanol? I know that the Mexicans were getting really upset about the huge increases in the price of corn tortillas, a staple in the Mexican diet.

The Mexican Government put a "freeze" on corn prices to keep tortillas affordable. It would seem, at least to me, that any by-product of corn, such as corn syrup, might now be high priced just like when sugar got very high priced and many/most manufacturers resorted to the "cheaper" corn syrup. They quickly found out that corn syrup is hard on the digestion, so that is when "high Fructose corn syrup" became the standard sweetener.

Just a thought.
