Default Freezing Fondant

I was just wondering if I could freeze a cake covered in fondant. Has anyone done this with success? I am making a cake for an outside wedding and thought that the frozen cake might hold up better. The cake will be sitting out for 4 hours before it gets cut. I also need to decorate it in royal icing. Will the RI be compromised in the freezer? Thanks!
