Red Bull is the granddaddy of energy drinks, having hit the U.S. market in 1997. It owns 42.6% share of the energy drink sector, yet for some reason doesn't exactly taste very good. It's bitter, somewhat berry-infused, and packs a ton of caffeine (9.64 mg/oz). But will it always be on top? What are your thoughts?

I just enjoy my coffee for taste, am pretty high energy anyway, but around these parts a lot of people drink Klone. It is getting good reviews for taste? From the name I believe it is trying to mimic Red Bulls flavor?

Red Bull has a bitterness to it that other carbonated sweetened drinks don't. This is the reason I like it.

I also like that it isn't sweetened with High Fructose Corn syrup, the ingredient that increases infant mortality rates in lab rats and is responsible for the huge profits that commercial ag. reaps by destroying the environment. Corn should not be America's sweetener and Red Bull agrees.

On top of that, Red Bull tastes better than 90% of the soft drinks out there. Jones soda and some other small companies that sweeten with cane or beat sugar taste better and so the the Coca-Cola produced in countries where tariffs allow sugar to be used in production.

I wonder how many people on this board have had a REAL Coke?

This is all just my opinion of course and I'm an @$$ so feel free to disregard everything.

I like the coffee monsters, there some new flavors out for a total like like 6 coffee flavors, maybe more.

Yes, I think it will always be on top, people use it for energy, but in bars is very popular too in mixed drinks. Also some bars are switching to cheaper imitations of it, ones called Raging Lion I believe.

I try a new energy drink every time I see one, my favorites are the 24:7's at walgreens, especially the cherry.

Bad thing about most of those energy drinks is that they reak havoc on your adrenal gland. Causing your energy level to decline on the long term. It is a practice in the diet industry to use substances that excite the adrenal gland so you feel pumped up with lots of energy in the begining then over time the burst of energy get less and less.

Being a Red Bull drinker for over 4 years, I cannot imagine the life without them...

The main reason why I loved Red Bull is the special bitterness taste, which we hard to find it at other carbonated drinks.

I think red bull is one of the better tasting ones and I think it's that with the fact it has a more marketable brand name than the others.
Sobe makes some good energy drinks too though they are less effective I believe. Red bull really does work, just don't drink it so much for maximum effect.

but for those long drives where i was falling asleep
the thing to always make me more alert was a nice big cup of black coffee. Just the smell of it can alert me when I'm groggy and driving.

7-11 has a new Monster black ice Slurpee thats really good, you can taste the taurine in it.
