Default Review: Sierra Mist Undercover Orange

Sierra Mist Undercover Orange is a creative limited edition that provides an orange flavor within a clear soft drink, much like Sprite Remix. The mandarin orange taste is considerably different from other orange sodas, though suffers from some of the negatives associated with HFCS and Sierra Mist in general. It's a clever tie-in to the movie Get Smart and provides a much needed orange flavor to PepsiCo's lineup.

With this new Undercover Orange flavor, the taste really reminds me quite a bit of the old Orange Slice flavor. Pepsi hasn't really had a good orange since the Slice years... Tropicana Twister Soda Orange doesn't count!

I found my bottle at a local Walgreen's. Has anyone else been able to track this down yet?

Steve, would it be impertinent to ask if it comes in diet?

Yes, there is a Sierra Mist Free version. Here's a look at the logo from the trademark filing back in December 2007:

The packaging is more white with orange highlights. I haven't had a chance to review it yet, but have seen it in stores.

It wasn't the worst drink I've ever had but I wouldn't say I would buy it again. I think I rather just eat mandarin oranges and drink regular Sierra Mist

I don't know why they're making a deal out of it being clear. It's clear, because it simply hasn't been doped with dye or clouding agents.

The common orange sodas are orange and cloudy, because they're dyed and doped with brominated oil for the sole purpose of giving the cloudy appearance, which are irrelevant to flavor especially for canned drinks since most people don't even see the color of contents as they consume directly from the can.

I got a case from Winco a few weeks ago and they only had the diet "free" version and it has the noticeable peculiar taste of aspartame sweetened diet beverage. This one is sweetened with a combination of aspartame and Acesulfame K like most other diet sodas, which I personally find it N A S T Y.

It's not a substitute for anything else, but it's a nice variety to the Sierra Mist line.
