It's been a bit since my last post.

Well I had a sojurn in Costa Rica and boy it's nice to be back.
Landed a job yesterday at a local private golf course kitchen.
I am being realistic and I am starting as a prep cook and will go from there.
After that I hope to have enough kitchen experience to work at a local steak house which has held a high reputation in my area for a number of years.
My neighbour who is now a sous chef for one of the city's finest restaraunts has invited me to work in their kitchen on Easter monday.

I was approved for the culinary course that the local college offers and will be 2 years long as a full time student. There is a on site restaraunt which employs you while you attend classes.
The process for applying with unemployment insurance was quite simple and it seems that the new system that was recently introduced actualy works or at least it did for me. Once you get an record of nemployment (R.O.E.) and your social insurance number, you goto servicecanada.ca and fill out you application which takes about an hour. It takes about a week to get a statement from U.I.
In that time I took a career planiing course which takes three days to complete and is mandatory in Alberta.
I then made an appointment with a counsellor and figured out my options which was all provided in writing.
I then went to the U.I. office and presented the case worker with the certificate from the workshop and the counsellor's options to which I chose to do the full time studies.
The only kicker is I have to wait until September for my classes to start.
Oh well, I guess it will be more money in my pocket when I start then.
