| Anyone ever tried making chive flower jelly, I'd never even heard of it until this past saturday. They opened the Farmers market a week early, and I happened to be in the area so I went and checked out what was there this early, and wound up getting a chive plant for my herb garden, which is almost completed, just need a couple of more starter plants, too early for basil, and I want to plant some oregano as well. Anyway, back to the topic, when I got the chive plant, it has all these little buds on it, and the lady told me that the plant was ready to flower, and she told me that I could pinch the flowers off when they bloomed and make a jelly out of them. I'm just curious how this is done, 'cause it sounds interesting.

| You can use the blossoms the same ways you use the stems. Just pick some florettes off and eat some... They're beautiful sprinkled on top of a salad. There are numerous herb jelly recipes out there, just substitute the chive blossoms. Also, check out Chive Flower Recipes here and here. |
