| We're coming to the end of a long dry summer in Tasmania, Australia. Looks like a very cold and frosty winter coming up. I've got a small veg garden, just a few small plots (full of weeds at moment!). The soil is a lovely dark fertile loam. Only thing I've grown over summer is tomatoes and potatoes - they did beautifully. Was wondering what is the best way to prep the plots over winter for the best results next spring? I'm not planning to plant anything at this point over winter - too many slugs and snails, we have dogs and cats and don't want to leave baits out. I'll need to weed and fork it over obviously. Should I add some chicken poo and then mulch or what would be best? Any responses would be greatly appreciated ![]()
