Like everybody says, go with All-Clad.

Had several pieces of Calphalon; found an astonishing number of ways to lift the finish off of it. They'll always replace, but why bother?

Those All-Clad stainless things soak up the heat like crazy- if you burn some oil onto the pan, remove it by simmering a little dishwasher detergent in water in the pan. This will lift the varnish every time. RUN YOUR VENT ON HIGH THROUGHOUT or you will also remove all the mucous lining from your nose in the process. Don't use this on non-sticks, either.

I'm a pretty adventurous home cook. I have the Emerilware set and like it for everyday use. The only thing I don't like is that you can't use high heat or sear anything worth a darn in a non-stick pan. I've got my eye on a regular All-Clad saute pan to use with steaks, etc. If you can get a decent price on the Emerilware, it's okay. If you do a lot of searing and high-temperature work, don't get non-stick of any sort.

Question Oneida.........anyone?

My new Whirlpool Electric Range w/ceramic smoothtop and convection was just delivered yesterday and on Thurs. while I was at Walmart I picked up a couple of "Oneida Cook & Pour" (10" Saute Pan - $23 and 1.5 qt. Sauce Pan - $15). I don't know alot about this, but here are the specs: "18/10 Stainless Steel, Thick aluminum impact bonded base for excellent heat conductivity and Cook & Pour spouts and lids for easy and safe straining". I used them both last night and this morning and they worked great!

Has anyone else used these? Can you tell me how they have held up?

I have the Emerilware stainless steel set. I think it is great. Definitely a good introductory set for the home cook.
