Default Ripert almost makes me want a toaster oven...haha

Eric Ripert | Avec Eric - We Cook, Therefore We Are!

almost makes me want to go out and get a cuisinart toaster oven! Is he just drinking the sponsorship kool-aide or do a lot of folks use these for home cooking a lot?

honestly, I don't have the counterspace, as what remaining i have is plotted for a new kitchen-aid and a blender this christmas.

Just found his blog and sponsored use of the toaster oven quite interesting...so while im not really asking for advice, nor giving a review, just wanted to ask how many people use toaster ovens a lot. I had one...gave it away.

Years ago I had one. It wasn't very good, and was mostly used to make toast. A toaster did a better job.

I understand the new toaster ovens (are they still called that) are a lot better, and after I move I may consider one depending on how good the new ones are and what my oven/broiler is like. Would I use it a lot - sheesh! haven't a clue.

Shel - I'm not sure they are any better now than they were when you had one. We use it mostly for toast and I find it to be very inconsistant - good on one side , poor on the other.

Otherwise the only use I have for it is if I want to roast a few cloves of garlic or some peppers - beats heating up the oven.

I have a toaster oven It doesn't toast as evenly as a toaster, but I find it handier overall for toasting. It takes various sizes and shapes much better than a toaster.

Small bagels can be easily removed. Good luck with a toaster on that. Similarly, I'll cut sweet potato rolls in three layers for making a ham and turkey club roll. Each layer fits, toasts and is easily removed.

Waffles, pancakes and other oversize quick breads fit. Again, not in most toasters.

Good for reheating leftover eggrolls and other fried foods you want re-crisped. Yes, the oven will do it too, but this is usually faster and less energy.

Handly little mini broiler too.
