Default food show

whats up cheffians?
I am going to a restaurant show in NYC with my school tomorrow and had a quick question. what is the appropriate wear for such a show? should i wear a plain chefs jacket and my checks? my school chefs jacket and checks? or civilian clothing?

Also i will be attending the ACF event in philadelphia this summer and I want to participate in the competition. it will be my first ACF competition and was wondering what i should do now to start prepping and what i should expect.

I was there yesterday.

You don't need to wear your whites. I wouldn't unless I was somehow part of the show.

Food shows, wine tastings, anything of that type just wear street clothes. I only wear whites when I'm actually cooking something, anything else and I wear civvies...

thanks for the info, i think you guys are right white would be a bit over the top unless i was cooking. i suppose business casual will do for the day. im up in the air on whether or not to grab a back pack of some kind (not really trying to look that much out of place..i have only gone to two shows (when i worked for wood business dining in delaware) and i went directly after work (or went to work afterwards) so i had my work uniform on...that was at least 7-8 years ago
