Post CIA: As good as they claim

So what's the truth. Is the CIA as good as it's made out to be. I've visited the campus and I was impressed, but is it as good as they claim...?

Hello Mrundle, and welcome to the Cafe! I couldn't tell you from first hand experience about the CIA, because I attended a local community college. But I have worked under three Chefs who graduated from the school. From what they told me about their experiences with the school, and from the values that they have instilled in me so far. I can get a good feeling that the school is one of the top schools to study at concernig their ciriculum, the the overall system that their students follow. Like I said, I wouldn't know first hand about the school, but I'm sure there are other members here who have attended or are currently attending. I went to a local community college and I got the learning I needed for my situation. Good luck in your sarch for answers!

I did not attend CIA but have worked with many cooks and chefs who have. Some were great, some were less than good. With CIA being a large school it is easy to just get by if that's all you want to do, and unfortunately that is what some students do. On the other hand, if you are focused on becomming a great cook and really push yourself, CIA seems to be a great place. They have some of the best instuctors and kitchens in the country. I guess it's what you make of it.

first off, school is what you make of it. if you wanna get by, then you can....AT ANY SCHOOL. however, if you really want to excell, then i think the cia is the best for that. not only does it offer the best chefs but it has the biggest culinary library in the world with the best video library as well. it all depends on what YOU make of your schooling.
