I have to study the parts of the cow (beef) etc. I do not eat much meat.. How in the world do you remember all these names? Human anatomy was pretty easy in comparison. Anyone have a riddle or an easy way to memorize the list. Thanks Danielle

And it even gets more confusing when you realize that in different parts of the country the same cut of meat can be called different things. I know of no hard and fast rule for memorizing, but once you memorize the primal cuts for one animal, they are almost the same for all, with slight differences. Unfortunately, this is one of those things that requires "brute" memorization.

Danielle, Know any butchers? If not, see if you can get to know one. If you can find a real butcher shop(not grocery store) chances are the butcher would be happy to help you. Most, if not all the people I've ever met in the meat biz are pretty cool and usually a little twisted too. ![]() [This message has been edited by mofo1 (edited 01-21-2001).]

The meat buyers guide is the trade standard. But even if you have Larousse, under beef it has a pretty good pictorial cc
