| i am trying to find a way to work along side a successful chef...i have been in love with food and cooking since i was a teen, but followed another career path...i have been in the advertising/marketing industry for over 10 years in 1990-1992 i owned two wine bars serving over 50 wines by the glass as well as desserts and appetizers... i have an intense passion to cook..i want to cook for people and see them satisfied and hear them say "yummy" my current skills and experience i would say are moderate...i am in no way trained and cook entirely by the seat of my pants...i love to read cookbooks from front to back as if they were novels..i soak it up like a sponge i am very interested in learning about technique and theory...that is where my passion is i am hoping some chefs might read this and give me some ideas on how to start...if i had the money, i would enroll in CIA or cordon bleu |

| Hello Pram! Welcome to the cafe! It would probably be a good idea to try out working part-time in a kitchen to see if it's what you would really like to persue! I have seen so many cooks come and go, because they did not favor the type of work and daily duties they were required to complete! But you have a desire and a passion to learn, and that is one of the first foot steps I took when I embarked in the industry of food preparation as well as many other people. A good starting point is in a pantry/cold food line position, and you can work your way through the stations of the kitchen! I wish you success in your journey! |

| I agree with layjo, get some experience in a full blown kitchen. I used to work in Atlanta and still know a few chefs around there. If you need, I can give you some ideas of who to call up and get some advice from down there. Best of luck.

| Layjo is right! I have seen alot of people leave my culinary coarse, and I know next year theres going to be alot less of us. People have a much different idea about what working in a kitchen is like. however working in a resteraunt isn't your only option. IF you really LOVE food, are creative and desire to continuosly improve/learn then go for it! |
