Cool Where to start?

I am a twenty year old male. I don't know where to start. I live in Chicago and I know of only one culinary school. Does anyone know about that school? If so please write back.

Thanks,
Mike

there are a few culinary schools in chicago... The two most known are CHIC and Kendall. Call and get some info. There are others, too but most importantly, you need to decide if location and money are an issue...All that info would be provided for you. I think, the others may be listed in the back of chicago magazine.

Cool

as a CHIC grad I found the school one tool that has helped me. It was not a substitute for experience but gave me enough exposure to feel comfortable in the kitchen.

Cool

Mike,

The first place to start is to get a job in a restaurant somewhere. Find out if you like working in a kitchen first before you spend alot of time, energy, and money on school. Unfortunately, alot of people go to culinary school, then find out they really don't like working a saute station on a busy saturday night, especially when their friends are all out partying and having fun. I am not putting down school at all. I went and graduated from culinary school. Just find out if you like cooking first.
