| Hello to everyone, We dont have a forum like this in england so you're all my only hope of answer!! I've always love cooking and now at the age of 20 i've decided to have it as my career. I've had some experience in a kitchen for a few months and loved it but it was only part time and needed a full time job. I have been offered a job in a bakery and i want to know if you all think this would be a good opportunity for me to get into the catering world. I do want to work as a chef in a restaurant but i was wondering if this was a good starting point? Your reply is much appreciated ![]() Thanks |

| Hello and welcome to Chef Talk. I'm moving your query to the Culinary Students and Culinary Schools forum, which is better-suited to the attention you desire. We hope you'll return to the Welcome Forum and introduce yourself soon. Regards, Mezzaluna

| In general it's all good experience. A lot of times people have an idea in their head about what they want to do and what they need in order to get there, and when they get that experience and it's not what they had in mind, they get discouraged. Bear in mind though, that every successful business is successful for a reason, and even if you don't like using proof and bake products, there is a lesson to be learned. Every successful business is an expert at running its own business. Go into it with the idea that everyone is an expert at something.
