I would recommend actually enrolling in school because college officials will generally help you more if they see that you are serious. You want a scholarship but everybody wants scholarships too so keep that in mind. J+W, or other schools, may have scholarships available to you based on your GPA or financial need but scholarships typically have requirements and having applied or currently attending a college is a big one.
Also, you have missed the deadline of the James Beard scholarships. Also, check into
www.acfchefs.org for some chances for 2010.
