| There's a recipe in the latest Saveur for Bacon Tempura!. Six ingredients (the last being a probably unnecessary "salt"), nothing fancy, just a food that already is more in every sense taken to another level. Now whether that level is inspired or even necessary, I'm in no position to say. Any other simple yet over-the-top concoctions (that someone might actually eat )?

| A friend of mine came up with this object called the "Bacon Bomb". Take 6 strips of bacon, render the fat and set the crisp bacon aside. Crack 1 egg into the pan o' fat and fry it up, set aside when done. Take 2 slices of bread, place into pan and fry toast, both sides until nice and golden. There should be some fat left in the pan, pour it off into a bowl. In this order, 1 slice fryed toast, 1 egg, 6 bacon, 1 slice American Cheese. Put this in the hot pan. This is the kicker in the whole thing : To melt the cheese, pour the bacon fat over the sandwich. When the cheese melts, add last slice of fryed bread. Enjoy the clogging of your heart. P.S. To add just that extra touch, when I do this, I use the grease left over, plus one more strip of bacon to make Bacon Cream Gravey (with Heavy Cream, of course). I get chest pains just thinking about it. ![]() |
