| I inherited this "Clockwatcher's Cookbook" from Good Housekeeping. I can't remember the exact date (Don't have the book in front of me) but I'm guessing it's early 70s. I have looked through this book about 5 times because some of the recipes are hideous! The pictures are awesome because they are so unappetizing unpleasing to look at. Here are some of the dishes: Pancakes A La Texas (ground beef is the texas part) Ham Rolls (corned beef hash mixture wrapped up with a thick pieces of ham, and spread out on a platter, garnished with potato chips) Magical bbq sauce cubes (ground beef, bbq sauce, spices, frozen in ice cube trays for later use) countless skillet meals more dishes made with corned beef hash and frankfurters green beans mexicana (the mexicana part is tomato sauce) Everything is canned or frozen, and I think ground chuck is the underlying theme of the book. When I get the book in my hands, I'll post some more dishes. It reminds me of this thread Last edited by Harpua : 05-09-2005 at 05:39 PM. |

| I'll see your ketchupy lamb and raise you "crunchy peas" with wilted iceberg lettuce from the "quick diet dishes" section. Nothing good can come from wilted iceberg. Why don't I also throw in "Eggs in Snow," ramekins filled with a melody of instant mashed potatoes, mozzerella cheese, and topped with an egg. Also, why does hominy sauteed with butter make it "Gnocchi USA?" <shudder> |
