| Hello how are you, I have a question, here in Peru i cant find "buttermilk" in supermarkets, i have a book of pancakes and cheesecakes, and i need buttermilk for the recipes. Insted of buttermilk , what can i use? milk? what can i use ? please tell me. Thanks so much! See u! Gus! |

| No buttermilk is not a big problem. Just use milk, and when you're measuring, add about a tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice per cup of milk. Let it sit for a few minutes, and it will look and act like buttermilk. |

| The milk and lemon juice/vinegar trick is pretty good. You could order some powdered buttermilk, Saco brand is the only one I know of. Plain yogurt, stirred to loosen it and mixed with milk if very thick is also a good substitute. Or, you can make your own. Get some cream and shake it to form butter. The liquid that remains is buttermilk. Phil |
