Default Fresh steelhead....

My brother called me today and said he had a good weekend fishing. He brought home 3 lovely steelhead. One was about 3 foot, the next about 2 foot, and the smallest about 18 inches. Of course I got to side and skin them. I let my broher pinbone them. But after it was all done, I ate some of the freshest fish I have had in a long time. Just floured with a touch of salt and pepper and panseared.

Now I have the carcasses simmering into a light stock, and about 3 pounds of fresh steelhead in my fridge. Fish for dinner the rest of the week.

I am not sure about when the season starts, my bro tries to get me out fishing with him all the time. But he always wants to start at 3 or four in the morning. I am not getting up that early for nothing.

You should try it at least once. I haven't gone fishing for at least two years and I really want to go fish for Steelies. It takes a big two handed rod and quite some muscle to pull them in.
