| We at my school have a health food challenge comp. You have to be a sr to enter. We have about 4 of us that are planing on doing it. I am going to win. I am one of the best in this program at my school, and im not being cocky, ask TechChef. He just graduated. But anyway, i want to do some kind of dish that is healty that will rock the judges sideways. I plan on putting edible flowers on this plate as well. Shoot me some ideas. I was thinking something along the lines of Mai Mai? Grilled?

| It's your challenge. It should be all your own work, not even our tweaks and ideas. Phil |

| I agree with you Phil. Your right, but if i can get ideas from where to start then it would help me. I would be doing the work, and tweaking things as I go. But as for a few ideas. I was thinking some kind of fish, but i have learned today that another member that will be in this comp. will be doing fish. So forget that. Then i was thinking maybe a rack of lamb? Lamb tends to be pricey so maybe ill use a rack of pork? French the bone make it all stilish like. Maybe put some kind of salsa with it? Fruit but not Mango? Put a potato side as well? Your right, i agree with you, i will be shooting ideas at you guys and you can help me if you so choose. Thanks guys.

| hey bigwheel, you really a BBQ'n cop? Who's your favorite talk show host on radio? |

| Hey Bigwheel! Yep man there are edible flowers believe it or not. I know thats not something you fellas see on the BBQ circuit a lot. Next time you pass a rose bush pluck off a petal and munch a while just make sure it has not had any pesticide put on it! This stuff can be as dangerous as a piece of undercooked pork so know your plant before hand. Maybe you could wow the judges at your next comp with a garnish of rose petals around your entry for them. Rgds Rook Side note: Not being sarcastic just funny, they would proably laugh you right out of the place with that setup. |

| Why not use a meat that has a lot of flavor, but not much fat, like top round or sirloin. Lamb is very high in fat and cholesterol, especially the loin section. You might also choose one of the healthiest meats to eat-rabbit, bison, or emu (ostrich). All three are very high in flavor, though low in fat and cholesterol. Rabbit is so low, it tends to be dry-thus, most often it's cooked as a stew. Seafood sausage might also be a good choice, but watch out for shrimp as the cholesterol load is really high.

| Well yeppers still a cop..aint been doing much bbq these days. Has mostly swung over to chili since it much less work and still give a person an excuse to drink and play with fire. I try to to stay balanced on the talk Radio. Maja Rushie got to top the list of course. I just love the way he slaps them commie liberals around Then we got some of my other favorites which is Dennis Prager...and a few I cant think of their names right now. One of which thinks we should wrap them raghead terrorists up in hawg guts and throw em out of helicopters. I like the way that fella thinks. We could have that goofy war over tomorrow if we could set aside the political correctness for a day or so. Like Shawn Hannity ok..but he a little too much rah rah stuff for me. Now the one they call the Great One...last name is Levine or similar...I just love that guy. He calls liberals our domestic enemies..and I know thats right. Who do you like?bigwheel Quote:

| Well yeppers..I know you can eat them things cuz I seen a monkey at the zoo doing it one time. I will keep my eye peeled to eat some roses next time I see some. Thanks. In Texas comp bbq they dont want nothing in the turn-in tray cept for meat. If somebody start throwing rose petals in there IBCA Lynn (that be the mean cajun head judge lady) would put knuckle bumps all over their head. She would claim that is a marked tray. Now in KCBS yankee bbq ...they allow wet lettuce and parsley and other junk like that in there. Nough to make a grown man puke huh? bigwheel Quote:

| Well thanks for that sage advice on that mokey seeing and doing thing. Guess I had temporarily forgot that old adage. I always liked the one my dearly departed DIL used frequently..he say "Son...you cant win em all if you lose the first one." Proud US Navy service at 15 years in the S. Pacific during the big war..WW II of course. Wonderful man. If you know a WW II vet betta hear their story. They are fading fast. Now I always considered that deep for some reason. Be hard to be disproven wrong I think too. Thanks for the warm welcome..I am just a wayward traveler looking for a home. Been kicked off most of the other bbq boards for various reasons which usually involve them being titty babies..if you get my drift..wink wink. I like to have fun and joke around a little. I dont watch much TV cept for the History Channel and Sponge Bob..so I plays on the compooter a lot. Hopefully I will be here for a bit. bigwheel Quote:
