| What do you folks here think? Is there an indigenous American cuisine?

| Cuisines yes. Prairie...Californian, Cajon, Creole, Tex-Mex, would these be anywhere else in the world? They were formed in their American locales. |

| Hee-hee! Hubby grew-up with these! His mom didn't cook. All she made was traditional jewish chicken soup!!

| Since American would include South America (unless you meant United States, which wasn't stated), anything with corn would have to have originated here. And chocolate. ~~Shimmer~~

| So did tomatoes and peppers and potatoes. Could you imagine any of the "ethnic" cuisines without those things. Italian food without tomatoes? Asian food without hot peppers? French food without chocolate? LOL!!! So could any of their cuisines really be called indigenous either? As for some food that I would consider "indigenous American cuisine": succotash, clam chowder (chowder in any from is really very American), BBQ as it has evolved here, and many other items that may have had their start as something else but have become something all together different, such as hamburgers.
