I have never used this program but have been told that it is cheap, easy and great. I want to be able to add my own recipes in easily along with pics and a bit of a story. I then want to print a cookbook of family recipes for my family members. Is Mastercook capable of handleing these tasks or is there better software out there?

Better software? Sure, but much more expensive. MasterCook will suit your needs just fine.

I recently bought Mastercook 9.0 for $9. If you download the demo from the web site, you get a discount when you buy it. It gives you about 30 minutes of playing around with it in the demo. I really like it. There are some things that could be improved, but it does nutritional analysis, costing, all sorts of things. I got it for the volume to weight conversions of ingredients, but I have found it fantastic for much more.

Gotta say, I've used a few of the similar tools and found them to be a pain. Vastly prefer a Word Processor. It does all the things you're asking and better. It's easier to copy out a formatted recipe, use the same file in a PDA or enabled cell phone. Works on other computers as the word processors are wide spread and tend to be file compatible. What a word processor doesn't do is enable ingredient searches and scale recipes automatically. Well, you can do ingredient searches, but it's a bit more tedious. Phil

| I loved masterCook, but have made the switch to Mac. Anybody know good Mac recipe software? The ideal one would read from Windows-based MasterCook database.
