Hi, at the moment i dont have a cookie or baking sheet available to bake my cookies. i was wondering if i could place a sheet of aluminum foil directly onto the oven rack and bake the cookies on that? thank you in advance for your help! =)

i never tried that, but i think you would probably end up burning the cookies, since the foil is too thin to distribute the heat well. If you have any kind of pan, even round cake pans, you can turn them over, grease the bottoms and use them as cookie sheets. You should make sure the surface with the cookies ends up pretty much in the center of the oven, so if the pan is high, you may need to put the rack on the shelf below.

Siduri is right, the thin aluminum will let the cookies burn. Also I think they would tend to sink in spaces on the rack and you could end up with a horrible mess in the oven. Go out to Safeway and buy a couple of those really cheap cookie sheets. Place one inside the other to provide an air gap that will stop the bottom of the cookies from burning on even that thin aluminum. I was in Costco the other day and saw that they are selling 2 half sheet pans and a 1/4 sheet pan for $15. The heavy professional kind. That's a good deal I think. Jock
