Tongue A Few from Canada...

Here are a few from Canada:

Montreal and the Province of Quebec
Montreal Smoked Meat
Montreal Steak Spices (always best on bone-in rib steaks, probably most Montrealers' favourite cut of steak)
Montreal Bagels (best from 24-hour bagel shops)
Tourtiere
Poutine
French Canadian Pea Soup
Steamed Hot Dogs
Sugar Pie
Feves au Lard (baked beans)
Anything "a l'erable" (with maple syrup)
May West & Jos. Louis (snack cakes)
Whippets (marshmallow & chocolate cookes)

Toronto and the Province of Ontario
Italian Veal Sandwiches
Butter Tarts

Can you tell that I was born in, grew up in, and lived most of my life in Montreal, and have been in Toronto for only 10 years?

Memphis....BBQ
Southern bayou Louisiana aka Cajun Country.....boudin, andouille, alot of various pork sausages, couchon de la (whole pig roast), gumbos, jambayla

STLouis, St. Paul's Sandwich.....egg foo young on white bread with mayo, lettuce and american cheese (served at cheap Chinese restaurants)
Gooey buttercake.....yellow cake with gooey chewy middle....as good-bad as it sounds.
Slinger....I'm sure there are diners across America serving this but.....hamburger patties, chili, eggs, onions, cheese, possibly hash browns....popular around 2am.
Snoots, grilled pig noses....
Toasted Ravioli are actually meat ravs, breaded and deep fried served with red sauce.

*discriptions help those of us unfamiliar with "garbage plate" or "sugar pie"

Shroom My god where are you hanging out? That sounds bizzare, yet I am oddly drawn to try it once (at least)

FRIED CLAMS!!!...

Really a Seattle specialty, especially at Ivar's Acres of Clams restaurant located on the waterfront. They have a sidewalk serving bar which does a land-office business during the summer.

Ahhhh. those were the days.
