| Need to find out shelflife of a 100% shortbread cookie |

| I've been told that shortbread cookies will last a year, or more, if kept tightly covered in an air tight container. However, I can't imagine trying to keep cookies "fresh" for that length of time. I would guess that, in the air tight container, they might still be pretty good after about thirty or sixty days (you might even want to stretch that to three months) but I wouldn't try it for any longer period of time. If you're willing to experiment (like putting them in separate containers and seeing how they fare at thirty day intervals) let us know what you learn from your experience please.

| 100% Shortbread cookies last about an hour at my house, so I can't tell you for sure how long they'll last on the shelf. I know Walker's Shortbread is sold on store shelves in sealed canisters. I'm sure they must have at least a six month date. I work with cookies (a lot of them), but we have a 12 month shelf-life on them. We don't make an all butter shortbread, as shortenings have a longer shelf-life. You could always wrap the cookies really well and freeze them, they should hold up for at least 6 months, and probably a year. |
