I have just had a horrible experience with this brand of canned tomatoes--I could not open the cans! The side of the lid just bent under my can opener! I tried several different can openers thinking somehow my opener was bent, but the problem was in the inferior metal Cento used for their product. This happened with four cans so it is not just a 'fluke'. I finally had to resort to a bottle opener, making v's in the can. The cans bent and folded under the stress. It took a while, but through the slits I finally extrapolated bits of tomato (recipe calls for whole tomatoes!) So, just a warning to all.

I've never heard of these. Where are you buying them? Jock

I purchased these at Shaw's Market--they have a website and they apparently produce products under many different names. I emailed the company and expressed my dissatisfaction. I don't expect to hear from them, but perhaps it will make them reconsider their cans. NancyR

I've used Cento tomatos before with no trouble with the cans.

Regading the taste question--they seemed to be okay--nothing 'wrong' with them but not impressive. Yes, I have used this product line before--for puree, though--and have not had a can problem. As suspected, I have not heard from the company re my email. ![]()
