I have a recipe that I requested directly from a restaurant. They sent it in restaurant format, so it serves 100, specifies a "capful" for the vanilla, and uses weight measures and other types of measures for ingredients that personal cooks are not usually knowledgeable about. Is there a resource for having such a recipe translated into lay cooks' terms?

I think the first important factor in downsizing the recipe is what are you making? Is the recipe for a hundred cookies, a hundred cakes? I would try dividing all the ingredients by 50 for example if you are making cakes and would like it for two people. Dividing out all the measurements is really the only way and then working with the recipe accordingly. You would though need to have some sort of scale for measurement at home.

If its the Master cook I am thinking of its a Sierra product. I have an earlier version that works pretty well for me.
