Default Boratane Onions?

At an olive bar I picked up some onions identified as "boratane." These seem to be a pickled cippolini, and they're really good. I went through a pint of them myself.

Goggling reveals nothing under that name. Is anyone familiar with these? And, if so, do you know how they are made?

Looks like this might be a spelling issue. I did some searching and found "Beratung Onions" with quite a few posts in German that refer to "Pickled Onions".

Although I don't think this is quite what your looking for.

Hope that helps.

Nicko, that might be precisely what I'm looking for. Did any of those sites have recipes?
