| Just have to vent a little ... On Saturday I stopped in to the local organic grocery and picked up some broccoli. I then noticed the price - $4.99/lb! I then put down the broccoli. Just a few days before the price was $1.79/lb. Is there some kind of broccoli shortage on the west coast? The price is outrageous, especially from a mega-grower like Earthbound Farms, a company that I try to avoid anyway. Shel (really miffed @ rip-off prices) |

| Huh? Could they have been mislabled? I was at the Santa Monica Farmers' Market last Wednesday and organic broccoli was going for $2/lb. And those were essentially broccoli heads.

| Shel If you get what you pay for, it must have been some truly phenomenal broccoli for that price. Maybe the farmer fed his organic cattle organic broccoli and that's what manure he used for the organic broccoli. I'm surprised at your original post because I thought organic consumers didn't mind paying a high premium for that ivory tower good feeling. Besides, I bet the nutritional benefits of that $5 broccoli is off the charts compared to conventional broccoli. Cat Man |
