La Grande Bouffe (The Blow Out) 1973
Directed by Marco Ferreri

Marcello Mastroianni, Philippe Noiret, Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Piccoli star in this strange, depraved comedy which was a 1970's worldwide sensation. The four men--victims of their appetites--retire to a Parisian villa, where they fill their systems with an overload of carnal pleasures until they die in a blow-out of orgiastic over-indulgence.

There was a movie with Nick Nolte and Barbra Streisand (I can't remember the name) where his (Nick's) mother once served the father sauced up dog food because he complained about her gourmet cooking toooooooo funny - does anybody remember the title?
Also, speaking of Heartburn - does anyone remmeber the movie? Nora Ephron wrote the book- mucho food references.

cookM,
There is a cookbook. It is called Cucina & Famiglia (Kitchen & Family) by Joan Tropiano Tucci and Gianni Scappin. Nice book. Pretty standard fare, but it does have the recipe for the Timpano that is the centerpeice of the movie. The only bad thing about this kind of italian food is after you eat it, 4 or 5 days later, you're hungry again.

Dinner At Antoines (not exactly about food but it takes place in a restaurant)
Chef (the British TV show)
Oh yeah...the name of the guy in the Monty Python sketch is Mr Creosote (just a wafer thin mint?)

Microwave Massacre
Terror at Tenkillers--has an eating scene that is bizarre
Both terrible schlock films--just my type!
Also, there is a great food scene in Summer School Teachers where two old ladies listen through the wall to a guy serving a meal to his date with lines like "If you liked my (salad? I forget the word), wait'll you taste my sauce." and so on. That scene is a scream.

Thank goodness Mezzaluna brought up Tom Jones . . . now that's cooking! My husband is a fiend for food scenes in books - Sir Peter Whimsey, anyone?

Has anyone seen "Someone is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe?" Very funny, and a good murder mystery. Terrific food too. It's old, maybe early '70s.
