| | Excellent source for spices Penzey's spices in Wisconsin sells really fresh top-quality spices. Peppercorns? Ten kinds to choose from, plus some blends. Curry spices? Nine different blends, all distinct and delicious (and by the way, I grew up in India). Three kinds of saffron. They also are more than reasonable. I always order my spices from them unless I need them the same day--I'm in Oregon.

| | Yeti, you are not alone in singing the praises of Penzey's. Many of us on the boards use Penzey's almost exclusively. Luckily, I live in Wisconsin and have a choice of locations to stop at to get my spices!

| | Well ok, that was nothing new then. And I'm not way off either as a new member.
How is Fondue Lake these days? |

| | nope your not, thanks for posting.......Penzey's in STL is 1mile from my home. The orange zest is great, many times better than fresh and up side is there are fewer naked oranges around now. |

| | You say orange and I think Cointreau. How many oranges had to get naked for this delicious drink? |

| | Love Penzey's!!!! Use several curry mixes, Maharajah rocks, Vindaloo also. Ozark Blend is great for fried chicken or fish, Florida pepper blend, tandoori, too many to list, my orders arrive in a good size box. I also take them to work! Just ordered their cocoa for the first time.
Soup bases are great. Anyone used the Raspberry Enlightenment? I have not, did you like it?
Enjoy!!! |

| | +1 Penzeys.
I've learned to throw out all my ancient and giant cheapo supermarket spice containers.
I buy the smaller Penzey containers so I am only throwing out a couple of dollars if they sit for longer than a year. |

| | Hey Oahu, I have a request. My favorite appetizer ever was one I had on Oahu, a Big Island specialty. A big piece of ahi tuna, marinated in some kind of tamari sauce with ginger, sesame oil and a bit of sugar. Seared on the outside and raw on the inside. That was the best I could tell by tasting it, didn't have the recipe, just my taste buds. Anything more you could tell me on how to make it? |

| | Another Penzeys' devotee here! Their headquarters is about 15 minutes away in Brookfield. I know how lucky I am!!
I second Oahu's comment about being able to buy small amounts to experiment with. Some are as low as $1.09 per small bottle.

| | Mezzaluna, next time you're heading north on 45 from I-94 note the large Penzys Spices on the water tower on the west side of the freeway. Just noticed it today for the first time. Kind of funny and cool at the same time.
I'm about five minutes from the HQ here in Brookfield.
I need some peppercorns.
