Chef 1st Cook Looking for career advice.

Hello Chefs, I live in Kelowna BC Canada. I recently got my first 1st Cook position at the newest resort in the city. Due to quality not being what I truly expected and managment would rather talk behind my back then communicate with me I gave my notice. Its the Middle of the season and they are way understaffed as it is so I feel a little guilty(This is my second Employer I worked at my last resort for nearly 3 years so I do not regularly quit after 3 months)

I talked to my last Chef about career advice and he said I should travel to Europe, Since my dad is from England I can get my British passport then travel any where in the EU. I am still a Third Year BC apprentice, most apprentices don't get 1st cook positions but was top of my class 97% second year so obviously know my stuff.

After thinking about it, I think I should travel and gain experiance but need to get my Canadian Red Seal first or I might not be taken seriously Internationally as a young Canadian apprentice.

Anyway any career is much appiciated

Default while i am an Austrian Chef

i was never back there since 30 years. I therefore have no idea about laws / salaries etc.
but you can check out www.rollingpin.at
this is the biggest austrian /eu hospitality magazine with tons of jobs and addresses there.
in my opinion this is anyway the only way to get / gain experience. travel while you are young and as long as you can. definitely you also should go to asia. and if you feel adventerous, learn russian and come to russia. huge potential. but here minimum hire is Headchef / Executive Chef. And don't limit yourself to Moscow or St.Petersburg.The provinces are booming and there is money to be made. But you should at least speak a passable russian..
Contact me if you need more info.
