Default food as a birthday present

Tomorrow is the Birthday of the Landlord of the pub where I drink. He really loves to come into the cafe and have breakfast but nowadays doesn't get time in the mornings. So tomorrow I have decided to cook him up a full English breakfast with tea and a mini birthday cake and to deliver it to the Pub - I think he will really enjoy that. Anyone done anything unusual with foodie presents?

aprox 15 years ago I treated a friend to a pedicure then met her at the salon with Champagne, sassion, cheese and crackers.
It was a different world back then, when I was a lady that "lunched" and played weekly mah jong. She had never had anyone treat her special....her husband was pretty jerky.

food gifts, jams....I'll not sell my jam....it is a labor of love and priceless, so it's given as such.
last party I recieved 10# of Mich dried cherries as a tip.....wonderful.....way better than money.

oh, let's see.....I gave a friend that turned 50, who is president of a non-profit food for her "benefit" party at greatly reduced price then instead of having them pick it up, did the whole table with my supplies/equipment. I believe in the cause and value her friendship.....she has sent good business my way. I've really gotten away from doing anything like this, but......

I have given home-made gift certificates for the preparation of a meal, a batch of appetizers, cookies, etc.

After a major op a few years ago that wiped me out, my bestest friend treated me to a facial, Then a fish and chip lunch. I was so happy that she cared so much and the fish & chips were the best ever.
I tend to make cakes for folk i care about. I used to do it for a living. If Its a wedding/ birthday i make it my present.
When my neighbour was sick and couldnt cook, I filled his freezer with meals.
It's easy to give and so appreciated

Christmas every year for the last 3 years, my family and I make numerous meals, pack them in freezer/microwave ware and give them to elderly neighbors. Each has the directions printed on the top in larger print so they can simply heat and eat.

Ever seeking knowledge

I like to give chutneys and pickles to friends and family at harvest time - none of them take the time to make them at home, so its a novelty and a treat for them (I hope). Gives one a warm fuzzy feeling.....

Hey bughut - I do spicy fish 'n' chips on Friday nights - both regular and gluten-free - they are a HUGE success - even I can't get enough!!! My husband is pretty jerky too - 8 years of marriage - he has never bought me flowers without prompting and 'hates' dressing up to go out to dinner, we must have been out maybe 3 - 4 times for a meal at a nice restaurant and one of those times was our wedding in NYC!!

Hey Bombay,
This is off topic - but I reckon you should buy yourself a bunch of flowers and have them sitting at home with no card, no explanation....see what response you get Then maybe get your hair done and a new set of clothes - maybe this will perk up da man. Every lady needs spoiling - I know i like it when it happens (every blue moon!). Make him wonder what's going on - ack I am being evil - apologies in advance
