Default Rum substitution

Since I'm under 21, I don't think it's very easy to get 1/2 C of rum for a rum cake. Can I substitute rum flavor for real rum? If so, how much for 1/2 Cup?

Look in the spices and/or cake mixes section of your grocery store. There is probably a rum flavoring concentrate in a small bottle with vanilla and other flavorings.
