| While walking past the jelly section of the grocery store, I noticed some jars of habenero pepper jelly that looked really interesting. What do people do with it?

| There's a "classic" party dish in which you put a block of cream cheese in a dish, dump a jar of pepper jelly over it, and serve with sturdy crackers for people to dig in and smoosh it together on their own. For something a bit more upscale , use it with a nut butter such as cashew or roasted almond on a good multigrain bread for an adult PB&J. Or for something really great, do the same and add some sliced smoked duck or turkey or chicken. I ate something like this several years ago at Bayona (one of Susan Spicer's restaurants in New Orleans) and have never forgotten it, it was THAT GOOD! ![]()

| In the South we eat it during the holidays.....wheat thins, cream cheese, and pepper jelly. You also have the ever popular cream cheese pepper jelly roll....very ornamental when using both red and green jelly....red white and green.....a little bit white trash, but, a staple in Georgia for the holidays.... |

| Savory cheesecake spread with pepper jelly. Lots of similar appetizer/canape possibilities. Good in many sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, sausages, a garnish to game or lamb instead of mint jelly. |

| I've seen this as well, at Farmers Markets and other places that you can purchase unusual food items such as this. The First thing that came to mind when I saw this was like maybe on top of a southwestern chicken breast type of thing. Maybe served with some wild rice and maybe some string beans or some type of veg. Sounds pretty good to me! Last edited by Thatkid_Tiny : 10-23-2007 at 11:57 AM. Reason: (forgot words) |

| cream cheese and pepper jelly is popular in Louisiana, Mississippi....pretty much south of the Mason-Dixon line....not so much in STL. It's easy to make. Sure Jell, vinager, sugar, peppers, chilis....recipe used to be on the instruction sheet, you can find it pretty much in any southern canning cookbook. It's also good to glaze pork with....ditto the sandwich condiment statement by Suzanne, and Susan Spicer still had the duck, cashew butter, pepper jelly on Bayona's menu the last time I was in NO. |

| I'll have to try that...sometimes I use jelly in my cookies. I wonder how they'd taste with a bit of spice! |
