| | Need help with honest mistake!! I took today off to continue cleaning from yesterday's Superbowl party and used a scouring pad to get the grime off my wife's "Williams-Sonoma Commercial-Quality Half-Sheet Pan"... As I was scrubbing a thin layer of black silicone-like grains came off. In a panic, I went to the website and saw that it clearly states "don't use a scouring pad."
Is the pan unusable now? What can I do to correct it? |

| | If it's a non-stick coating that you damaged, I wouldn't use it anymore as it could be mildly toxic. Nice of you to stay home and do the dishes though. Let's see, what could top that.... A new sheet pan? |

| | You've got to be kidding Kuan - If my man bought me anything for the kitchen as a valentine/birthday/Christmas prezzy, (not being of a violent disposition normally) He'd be wearing it!!
Sounds more like an Un-birthday present to me.
I heard once of a guy who bought his wife a new Vacuum cleaner for christmas. And gift wrapped it !!!!!! |

| | LOL quick buy another one
And if my wife bought me something for cooking, I'd actually appreciate it. She knows I like that stuff.
Was thinking of buying my wife a new electrical meter for Valentines Day, because I know I can use it even if she won't.

| | This coming from a guy: I like cooking, and my wife appreciates any attempt at dishwashing, even if it's misguided! |

| | Well, when I make chicken yakni pulao or lasagne, she'll kiss me. Maybe I should make her pulao for Valentines Day, with sweet mango chutney on the side.
She loves my home made noodles too. |

| | Yeah it's a rice dish. Only aromatic spices, nothing hot. Carmelized onions, butter, cashews. |

| | I don't have the recipe handy, but here's about how I do it.
Boil until chicken is cooked:
A cut up chicken
5 cardamom pods
3 peppercorns
1 onion cut up
about 4 cloves
1 stick cinnamon
3-5 bay leaves, depending on how big they are
salt, about 1 and a half tsp
3 c water
When the chicken is cooked, turn off the stove and let cool for a bit. Pull the chicken off the bones, dice, and reserve. Strain the broth and discard the onions and spices.
Rinse the raw rice and use the chicken broth to cook it in (about 2 cups rice). As the rice is cooking, thinly slice an onion and saute it in 1/2 cup butter until browned a bit. Add the chicken pieces and about 3/4 cup cashews. Saute until everything is lightly browned. Add this (including all the butter used for sauteeing) along with 1/3 cup raisins on top of the cooking rice. When the rice is cooked, mix it up. Serve with sweet mango chutney, plain yogurt, and whatever esle you want.

Reason: forgot the cinnamon!
