Is the broth in all canned salmon, tuna, etc. salty? I would use the broth more if it weren't so salty.

The nature of all processed, and especially canned foods, is that it is very salty. This is part of the process that helps preserve the ingredients and extend shelf life.

BTW- Minors makes a great line of low sodium bases. They are great because you can use a lot more of it with less salt. They are more like homemade than the regular stuff.

The FDA requires a sodium level....it is generally high because they have to assume the product will be temperature abused....with a can good that is expected....I would go with the Minor bases or ask your wholesaler for scraps.....unless there selling pre-cut fillets (not recommended) they should have plenty
